Summary Event of the Project “Youth Voice”

The summary event of our project “Youth Voice” was successfully held, where the project participants were awarded, and the winners of the National Debate Championship were announced.

The award ceremony, which was held at Tbilisi State University, was attended by the acting head of the Youth Agency supporting the project and participants from 20 municipalities involved in the project.

It is truly gratifying to hear such positive impressions and experiences of young people about the importance of debates and the project.

Non-Formal Education for Youth Empowerment

The project “Non-Formal Education for Youth Empowerment” successfully conducted 5-day trainings with the participation of young people from the following 12 municipalities of Georgia: Tbilisi, Sagarejo, Gurjaani, Sighnaghi, Dedoplistskaro, Lagodekhi, Gori, Tsalka, Chkhorotsku, Oni, Poti and Batumi.

After successfully completing intensive trainings in debate techniques within the framework of the project, public debates were held with the participation of young people from all twelve municipalities.

The project is funded by the Youth Agency within the framework of the 2024 grant competition “Strengthening Youth Organizations”.

Debate School for Pupils

The debate school started accepting pupils from the 7th grade.

During the 8-month study period, pupils will be able to:

  • Acquire formal debate techniques
  • Develop critical thinking
  • Prepare presentations
  • Time management
  • Teamwork
  • Conduct research
  • Respect for the opponent and everything related to public speaking

 

Pupils will have the opportunity to participate in all activities and competitions planned within the framework of the “Debates for Better Education” project, both in Georgia and abroad.

After completing the debate school, each participant will receive an internationally recognized certificate.

Award ceremony of the national tournament and concluding event of the “Debates for Better Education” project

The summary event of the “Debates for Better Education” project was successfully held. At the ceremony, the participants of the national environmental debate tournament and the teachers involved in the project were awarded.

The large-scale tournament was held on the environmental theme, with the support of Tegeta’s subsidiary organization, “Tegeta Green Planet” and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and brought together more than 400 participants from all over Georgia.

National Debate Tournament on the Environmental Theme was Successfully Held

The national debate tournament on environmental issues was successfully held. The event was attended by Shalva Akhvlediani, the director of “Tegeta Green Planet”, a supporter of the tournament.

Active and highly motivated students from debate clubs and schools across Georgia participated in the tournament.

The national debate tournament was held within the framework of the “Debates for Better Education” project, which is supported by the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation.

Together with “Tegeta Green Planet”, the tournament was held with the support of the UNDP Georgia.

Meeting of successful debaters on the Earth Day

An event related to Earth Day was successfully held at Ilia State University. At the event, the best debaters of the 2024 Student Festival Tournament from Ilia State University met with students and debate school pupils, who are actively preparing for the national debate tournament on environmental issues.

The national debate tournament is carried out within the framework of the “Debates for Better Education” project. The national tournament is supported by Tegeta Green Planet and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The purpose of the national debate tournament is to popularize the environmental topic by using debate techniques, to raise awareness and deepen knowledge among young people.

The project “Debates for Better Education” has been implemented for many years with the support of the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and Ilia State University. The project aims to develop the skills of free and independent citizens in students and to promote the formation of such skills as constructive reasoning, argumentation, research, oratory, teamwork, time management, respect for the opponent, and others.

Preparations for the national environmental debate tournament have started

We are glad that an exciting activity has started with the support of Tegeta subsidiary organization “Tegeta Green Planet” and UNDP Georgia, which is implemented within the framework of the project “Debate for Better Education”.

A memorandum of cooperation was signed between Tegeta’s subsidiary organization “Tegeta Green Planet” and the Debate Institute.

Within the framework of the project, preparations for the national debate tournament on environmental protection have already begun.

Work meeting with the representative of our partner Polish debate organization at Ilia State University

We are glad that the meeting with the representative of our partner Polish Debate Organization was successfully held at Ilia State University. At the workshop, we introduced our guest to the achievements of the project “Debates for Better Education” and discussed joint future plans. We are thrilled that Poland has become one of our permanent international partners, just like Ukraine, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Award Ceremony of Debate Subject and Club Teachers in Gurjaani

The awarding ceremony of the debate subject and club teachers of the “Debates for Better Education” project took place in Gurjaani in a particularly pleasant atmosphere.

We are happy with such motivation, gratitude, and positive evaluations of teachers on teaching debates. They shared with us how important debate techniques are for the multi-faceted development of pupils, as well as for their professional advancement, which is important when teaching any subject.

The director of the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, Zurab Kervalishvili, the director of the Gurjaani Educational Resource Center, Dali Mindiashvili, and the director of the Dedoplistskaro Educational Resource Center, Maka Janashvili, actively participated in the meeting.
